Our Fund Accounting Division administers and maintains the security and accounting records, valuations, pricing of funds and the production of the Report and Accounts on behalf of a number of the UK’s most prestigious asset managers. The Division administers over £40 billion of assets for 350 funds. 

As part of our rapid European expansion, the Fund Accounting Division opened a major new operation in the Manchester office, creating hundreds of new positions over the next 6-8 months. As a result, there is an outstanding opportunity for professionals, part qualified accountants, experienced industry technicians and numerate graduates to join a dynamic team to meet this initiative.

The Fund Accounting Division

The Fund Accounting Division of The Bank of New York Mellon administers and maintains the security and accounting records, valuations, pricing of funds and the production of the Report and Accounts on behalf of a number of the UK’s most prestigious asset managers.

Successful candidates will join a dynamic team of highly motivated professional people, dedicated to providing our clients with an excellence of service expected of one of the UK’s leading third party service providers.

There exists an opportunity for successful experienced industry practitioners, management professionals and first time graduates, to build upon their current skill sets, knowledge and responsibilities. This will be achieved though an introduction to the Bank of New York Mellon and a structured, in-depth approach to a comprehensive training programme. This will equip candidates with the necessary technical knowledge and ability to commence and fulfil their ultimate job role.

Valuations
(top)

The Valuations area provides daily reconciliations, pricing and price dissemination for a range of Unit Trust and Open Ended Investment Companies (OEIC’s), on behalf of our clients’ UK and Global Asset Managers.

Valuations is a busy department, which operates in a dynamic vibrant and team orientated environment, working to strict procedures, controls and deadlines.

The department is one of the key areas of Fund Accounting where the emphasis is on accuracy and timely delivery of data on a daily basis. 

Meeting predetermined deadlines for the production and verification of our clients’ fund valuations and intra-day fund pricing is paramount to ensure that our Regulatory obligations and client Service Level Agreements are met.


Accounting Services Group

The Accounting Services Group is responsible for the production of Report and Accounts for a number of retail and institutional clients. Duties include the reconciliation of accounts, Audit file preparation and the production of interim and final accounts for both unit trusts and OEICs.  

Candidates will need to be highly motivated with a flexible approach and the ability to work to deadline in a team environment. Good communication skills will also be required as candidates would be liaising with Auditors, Trustees and other colleagues in this highly rewarding and challenging role.

The roles would suit both qualified and part qualified accountants and those individuals keen to study professional accounting qualifications (ACCA/CIMA). A prior knowledge of accounting is essential.


Support Services (top)

Support Services encompasses the following teams:

Trade Capture
Responsible for all trading activity, ensuring that confirmed and unconfirmed transactions are captured in a timely and accurate manner and reflected in our ledger and accounting systems.

Fee Management
Responsible for the reconciliation and maintenance of fee accruals, calculation, production of invoices, processing and authorisation  of payments to The Bank of New York Mellon's Treasury Department, and making sure that the internal ledger postings are correctly reflected and reconciled to the statement account.

Calculations
Responsible for: the production of income forecasts, yield calculations, dilution levies, swing pricing, dealing expense and monthly checks to share class alignment and income currency balance reviews.

Reconciliations
Responsible for the maintenance of cash, stock and income reconciliation systems, the production of exception reports, and for the timely investigation, resolution and narration of issues.

Fund Changes

The Fund Change team is responsible for all changes to clients’ funds.

This includes: new client take-on, fund launches, fund mergers, fund closures,  discussing and agreeing requirements with the client and arranging for the relevant changes to be made to the fund's standing data, managing project, and ensuring that any system developments, resource, procedures and training requirements are in place to accommodate the change. 

They are also responsible for all fund closures and the processes involved to the point of closure, and clients’ inspecie transfer of assets calculations.


The roles (top)

Management

We are looking for candidates who have worked in Fund Administration, Hedge Fund, Investment Accounting or a similar environment. Candidates must have experience of managing and developing people and processes.

Successful candidates will be those who are results and client-focused and can demonstrate the drive, commitment and enthusiasm required for the roles.

Non-management

We are interested in receiving applications from numerate graduates who have a business, accounting degree or similar. We are also looking for experienced fund administrators who have worked in the financial services sector.

We also have positions which are suitable for college leavers and second jobbers who have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English.

The roles would also suit candidates who are interested in studying for professional accounting qualifications or may already be part qualified. Requests for study support will be assessed on an individual basis. Successful applicants will be highly motivated with a flexible approach and have the ability to work to deadlines in a team environment.
